The opportunityBuller District are seeking to recruit a Coordinator Transport to manage the delivery of Council’s Transport Programme.
This is a fantastic full time, permanent role (40 hours per week) which offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified engineer with some relevant technical experience to develop management skills in a local government environment. What you’ll be doing
The successful candidate will hold responsibility for a variety of important duties including, but not limited to:
- Manage the Team delivering the Transport work programmes supporting Council’s Annual Plan.
- Establish and maintain the tactical asset management activities for Transport
- Achieve forecasted objectives in term of scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk and customer service on behalf of stakeholders.
- Perform assigned emergency response duties as required by Civil Defence Controller, Group Manager or Chief Executive Officer.

Our ideal candidate will have an appropriate tertiary qualification and demonstrated experience in the Transport Sector.
Additionally, you will have proven experience working within planning, maintaining and transport in a strategic, consistent and affordable way whilst providing high quality, practical and precise technical guidance.
Personally, you will be a positive, collaborative self-starter who enjoys providing an array of support and working with a great attention to detail.
To be considered for this position, you should have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Current New Zealand Driver’s License (essential for this position)
- The right to live and work in New Zealand

Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Experience of working in the transport/roading area
- Experience of working within a Project Managment Department and/or working with Local Government would be highly desirable for this position.
- The ability to carry out a range of reporting and auditing duties, ensuring data is captured and presented both accurately and timely.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Advanced technical skills in civil engineering.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent listening, interpersonal & presentation skills.
- Exceptional written & oral communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise reports.
- Honesty, integrity & reliability.
- Resilience and the ability to cope under pressure.
