Mō te tūranga | About the role

Our Facilities & Property team have a fantastic opportunity for a Trades Assistant to join the team and provide general handyman support at our facilities in Dunedin, Wakari, and the surrounds. Predominantly based at Dunedin Hospital, you’ll be part of a team that keeps the lights on, keeps things moving, and generally keeps our patients safe and the hospital running.


A challenging, yet rewarding role, you will work alongside our trades team to support a range of work, providing a friendly face, and turning your hand to whatever needs doing. A very varied role, you may be making signs one day, changing a lightbulb the next, and putting up shelves and painting a wall the day after. As a part of Facilities & Property, you’ll help keep people safe and improve the health and wellbeing of our community.

Our ideal candidate will have:


  • At least two years’ experience in a repairs / maintenance role
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment would be a big help.
  • Most importantly, you will have a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude

Utu whānui |Salary range

This role belongs to the AWUNZ Collective Agreement for maintenance trades roles and falls between the step 1 ($54,021 p.a) and Step 5 ($66,950 p.a).
