We are looking for a passionate Lead Software Developer for one of our new innovative web-based eye healthcare solutions. You don’t need to have a background in healthcare – but if you do, it would be seen as a huge advantage!
What kind of work is this?
We are searching for an experienced Full-Stack Software Developer to be a Lead Developer for one of our new teams.
Our frontend framework is Angular, and we are using Java as the backend programming language. As a main framework we use Spring Boot and the solution will be built based on microservice architecture.
Your responsibility in addition to development work is to guide the team to uphold best practices in both backend and frontend development. Also as a Lead Developer you work closely with team’s Architect related to technical discussions and decisions.
What kind of team is it?
You have the freedom to work independently but also receive support from a team of cross-functional professionals.
The team around you (Scrum Master, Test Engineers, Product Owners and Developers) are always happy to help you. Daily meetings, retrospectives, refinements, planning and other workshops are done together. While your closest colleagues work at our Oulu site, you may also collaborate with colleagues at our other locations in Helsinki, New Jersey, Japan, and various other countries.
Currently, the core team consists of 3 Developers and 1 Test Engineer, and in the near future the team will be growing.
The position is located in Oulu, offering the flexibility of a hybrid work model. However, due to the nature of the work, we expect you to be able to work on-site as needed. We have modern and recently renovated office premises in the city center. Instead of working in an open-plan office, concentration is supported by smaller team rooms for six people.

No need for healthcare knowledge. You don’t necessarily need to have a background in healthcare. We offer you the possibility to deepen your knowledge with training held by our in-house eye care professionals.
Other requirements:
- At least 7 years of experience in web development (if less, astonish us with your know-how, we know seniority is not about the number of years)
- Proven experience in quality web development
- Experience and interest in agile software design and development
- Excellent documentation skills and willingness to help Product Owners and Architects with technical specifications if needed
- Excellent communication skills
- Willingness to work alongside the team Architect to discuss and make technical decisions
- Passion for software / web-development
- Strong expertise in
- Java and Spring Boot
- Angular or other Frontend-frameworks
- HTML, CSS and Typescript
- Databases. We are using both Relational and NoSQL databases.
