In this role, you will be an integral member of the team to provide the best customer service by performing a variety of duties relevant to the retail food service operations of the Department of Nutrition. Responsibilities include: * Set up service lines * Pre-plate and serve food * Aid in the preparation of meals * Merchandise food items, maintain the beverage station * Act as a food runner * Measure temperatures of hot and cold items * Wash dishes, pans, utensils, and small equipment This is a part-time "as needed" per diem position; schedule and working hours will vary. In addition to the Ronald Reagan Medical Center, this position may be required to work at other UCLA Health sites including the Santa Monica Hospital. Required: * Basic nutrition production skills. * Knowledge of portion control and serving procedures. * Knowledge of retail operations such as station setup, replenishment, merchandising and inventory procedures. * Interpersonal skills to accomplish departmental mission of exceeding customer's expectations. * Knowledge of and adherence to prescribed safety, sanitation, and food handling practices according to HACCP and JC policies. * Ability to work independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction. * Ability to stand, bend, walk, reach, lift, push, and pull for prolonged periods of time in hot and cold areas. * Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs. * Ability to work around or use strong cleaning solutions. * Skill in reading, speaking, and writing English. * Ability to travel to multiple UCLA Health locations.
